Charlie Daniels

Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie Daniels began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin' Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing on the Youngblood's Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind.

Spanning a career of 50+ years, selling more than 20 million albums, and receiving a 1979 Grammy for his Charlie Daniels Band signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” this year, turned into one of the most important years of Daniels' life.

Charlie was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and received an exhibit in his honor called “Million Mile Reflections” (named after his 1979 album with his signature song) which gave Charlie a bookend to his memoir, “Never Look At The Empty Seats,” in 2017, followed by his daily devotional book, “Let's All Make The Day Count” in 2018.

The Charlie Daniels Band perform more than 100 concerts each year, including performances on the Grand Ole Opry and his “Volunteer Jam,” a concert he started in 1974, when he invited friends to join him on a “volunteer” basis to jam together, while dedicating proceeds to worthy causes.

Charlie Daniels is the quintessential Southerner with a healthy dose of Wild West Cowboy. Seldom seen without his signature bull-rider hat and belt, Charlie's lifestyle on his beloved Twin Pines Ranch reflects his love of all things Western; horses, cowboy lore, rodeo heroes, old western movies and Louis L'Amour novels are among his favorite pastimes. It's not so much the style of music, but more the values consistently reflected in the varying genres that connect Charlie Daniels with his millions of fans. For decades, he has steadfastly refused to label his music as anything other than CDB music, popularized on a variety of radio formats.
